Hi there! I'm so sorry to hear this with a new gaming PC, but it's way too slow everywhere. 😞
Hey, I just bought a new PC from Microcenter using some special combo prices. My parts include: Ryzen 7 7800x3d, two sticks of 16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 running at 6000MHz, an Asus ROG b650 motherboard, a gaming WiFi card, an RTX 4060 (I'm getting the 4080 soon), an EVGA Supernova 1000W power supply, and an ASUS TUF gaming monitor with 165Hz and 1440p.
Now here is where I am stuck. I have tried so many things online that I feel really annoyed and desperate to fix this. I've been reinstalling drivers for three days straight, changing Windows settings, messing around with BIOS options, trying random other suggestions from people, swapping out monitors, etc... Some games are almost impossible to play because of how frustrating it is. I have zero games installed on this brand new clean install.
When I drag my tabs around, the screen has a small stutter or maybe it's not the computer lagging at all but some problem between the PC and monitor. No clue what it is. I've turned FreeSync Premium on and off, changed every single setting in the NVIDIA control panel, and nothing seems to change this. I'm really running out of ideas and have wasted hours scrolling through Reddit and watching YouTube videos with no success. Any help would mean a lot to me and I will always be thankful for it.
Welcome to the forums! You need to tell us how you are cooling your Ryzen 7 processor because that matters a lot. What BIOS version are you running on your Asus motherboard? You have two sticks of memory, but did you show us what kind they are? Are you installing Windows again? If so, which version do you have, and were you doing this in offline mode or with the latest drivers installed by right-clicking the installer and pressing run as administrator? I don't know if your computer is slow because there are no games on it yet, but maybe something else is going wrong between your PC and the monitor. Please take a video of what happens when you move tabs around and send it to us so we can look at it closely.
Is your BIOS set to version 3222? Is your RAM running at 6000MHz? Did you actually check it in Windows? Which hard drive are you using? Have you updated firmware and run a scan with the manufacturer's tool? Are there any errors in windows when you use dism commands? Has ALC audio firmware been updated? I checked if your ALC4080 or ALC4082 is up to date. Did you download and install the chipset driver from AMD.com? Have you checked your CPU temperatures? How hot are they getting? How hot is your GPU? Did you connect the NVIDIA GPU to the monitor, not just the motherboard video port? Please also install the AMD GPU drivers as well as check the CPU socket on your motherboard for any bent or discolored pins.
Thank you for replying, I really appreciate it. Yes, the bios settings are on 3222 and I have put them into my GPU. It is running Windows 11, and when I change the profile in the bios to set the ram to 6000, it shows up correctly on windows. When I get home, I will screen record my problem and try sending it here. I am using an ssd that has the os on it and I have downloaded and checked every possible update for both the cpu and gpu. I also checked the temps but they didn't seem high to me and from what I saw online it was within normal ranges. I didn't dig too far into it because the problem still happens even after a brand new install where I just drag tabs around, this continues especially in games with very solid fps but micro stutter really kills it. What is the ALC audio firmware? Is this known to cause this kind of problem? And this is the link to my RAM kit: https://www.microcenter.com/product...l-...0z36-black
