It looks like only the latest reports are available, and I still have a Kaby-Lake. Even though they claim a 4% improvement, I’m unsure if it’ll make a difference.

It doesn't significantly impact user tasks if no updates are applied...

Well, for the sake of conversation an effect is an effect. In user experience we're generally referring to 3-4 ms during browsing and similar light tasks. For more demanding situations the numbers change: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=a...code&num=4

-does not meet posting guidelines for tech news subforum- Damn, the issues just don't stop with them do they? and 4% may not sound like much but purchasing decisions are sometimes made on that little of a lead. They really don't have much left in the way of advantages: price? features? efficiency? security? memory bandwidth? expanability? All better on AMD's side of the street. Intel has thus far managed to hold onto a slight gaming lead but it's on the order of single digit percentages in the majority of cases and this isn't going to help them any.

There was a slight decrease in performance, not significant.

Hardware usage heavily influences performance and cost based on reliability records. Performance drops aren't just about brand preference—they depend on how you configure the system. This isn't a claim based on past choices alone; it's a factual note without comparisons meant to provoke. While reviewing earlier tests, I noticed Apache improved with the latest Unicode but reverted after compiler updates. This indicates users have flexibility in applying fixes, often achieving little to no loss and sometimes even improvements.

A few individuals become extremely excited about gains of just 1% on benchmarks such as 3DMark, but I’d say 4% is quite significant.

It really does vary, especially when certain options perform better than others. However, it appears many major companies have acknowledged AMD will be a better fit: several articles highlight this shift.
