Hello, I’m seeking assistance with some issues I’ve encountered recently. Over the past week, I’ve been playing games such as Black Myth Wukong and Ghost of Tsushima, and at random times while using my Monitor, the system would suddenly shut down, leaving the game running but with background sound still active. I’m unable to take any action and have to restart the PC. Even using Ctrl+Shift to reset the driver didn’t help.

Here are my specifications:
- Motherboard: Asus Maximus Extreme XI
- CPU: i9900k
- GPU: 3090 TI Founders Edition
- Power supply: Asus ROG 1000w (new one a year ago)
- Monitor: Alienware AW2138DW
- RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance
- Temperatures: Always stable thanks to water cooling; max temps never exceed 62°C for CPU or GPU. I’ve used DDU, reinstalled drivers, and it worked for about three hours before going black again. Drivers are up to date and Windows updates are current. Benchmarked with 3D Mark and no issues occurred.

Currently, I’m testing a new DisplayPort cable. The BIOS is updated, and the problem seems to occur only during gameplay. Before uninstalling GPU drivers, my screen would flicker black for about two seconds, but after reinstalling all drivers it stopped happening. Now, once the screen turned black again, it would restart. I’m running a stress test with Furmark; at 30 minutes in, temperatures are at 61°C, usage is 98%, and power draw is 59%.

I’ve tried older drivers too, and it’s strange that my monitor only shuts down when playing games. I can handle everything else during the day, but certain titles—like God of War Ragnarok—caused the screen to go black within an hour.

Bios is current for your motherboard as well.
GPU: 3090 TI Founders Edition
Power supply: Asus ROG 1000w (just purchased a year ago)
Which PSU were you using before the ROG unit? Did the previous power supply run the RTX3090 Ti FE?
After reinstalling all drivers, it stopped working. I think you meant the GPU drivers only—can you check Device Manager for any warnings with a yellow exclamation?
I've also tried older drivers, and it's strange my monitor only turns on during games.
Use DDU to remove all GPU drivers (Intel, AMD, Nvidia) in Safe Mode, then reinstall the latest driver manually via an elevated command—right-click the installer and select Run as Administrator.

If necessary, attempt to slow down the card again and observe the outcome. Also, check if your monitor has an HDMI port—this could help determine whether the issue is with the monitor itself.

BIOS version 2004
The power source I used prior to the Asus was a Corsair HX1000i, which powered the 3090ti
No driver issues are marked with a yellow warning symbol
I plan to attempt running DDU once more.
