They told servers they didn’t care about rank. Probably, these private servers belong to Mojang or similar. I haven’t noticed anything like this in any game before.

It wasn't anyone's responsibility but Mojang. I managed a big prison server for roughly a year, providing equal access to everyone and avoiding favoritism toward donors. They had private VIP chat and a larger cell space. The server could sustain itself financially, though that would be unfeasible under the updated EULA.

They're focusing on big servers such as Hypixel and The Hive, which are spending a lot on hosting. Their goal was to prevent servers with $500 donation packages, but honestly, these people are just causing trouble for everyone. As expected.
