Hey, I need some help with my Cisco SG100-16 v2 router.
I am planning to purchase a Cisco SG100-16 v2, but I need help turning off the Quality of Service settings. Thanks!
Even if this doesn't work for what you hoped, you cannot change it. Since it's an unmanaged switch with no settings to adjust, nothing can fix that. Also, unless your router adds special labels to packets, the switch won't make any difference at all.
The only place I can find a link for that switch is on Amazon. Cisco doesn't list anything there either. The page for the SG100 shows these are old products marked as end of life. https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/supp...ess...eries.html I would avoid buying it if I were in charge of this purchase.
You can't because this switch isn't managed and you don't need one for a few reasons. First, the switch acts like most modern switches with wire speed or nonblocking features. This means every port can handle full speed both going in (1Gbps) and coming out (1Gbps) at the exact same time. Second, how QoS works on this specific switch relies on 802.1p packet tags. If you don't put those tags on your packets, there is nothing to apply priority to. This feature rarely gets used even in business settings because almost never do you ever run into a bottleneck on the LAN. The router strips these tags off when it moves between different network segments.
The plan is to manage packets using a Mikrotik router, while the switch acts as a filter that sends them back cleanly, stopping any interference or manual steps along the way.
