Hey gamers, I'm Jawarny. I just upgraded my CPU from an Intel Core i7 5820K to a Rysen 7 5800X. I also replaced my motherboard with a Gigabyte GA-X99 gaming 5P socket and connected it to an Intel Socket 2011-3 board, which is now running an Asus TUF Gaming X570-Plus (Wi-Fi). After setting everything up, temperatures stayed around 55°C to 65°C during normal use. When I boot Minecraft or Counter-Strike, temps spike to 85-90°C at full CPU load, then drop back to about 70°C and 80°C while playing at lower loads. The same happens with streaming tasks.
I was worried my new cooler wouldn't handle this powerful CPU well, so I considered three options: Corsair iCUE H150i Elite with three 120mm fans (CDN$252.93), Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 (CDN$157.62), and Noctua NH-D15 (CDN$115.45). But the H150i kept my CPU usage at just 5% and kept me around 60°C. My main goals were smooth gaming, stable streaming, video editing without lag, multitasking, and having a Minecraft server.
I read many YouTube videos and forums saying it's normal for high-performance CPUs to get hot—often reaching 90°C. I want my temps to stay between 20-40°C, especially when using low CPU loads. I'm frustrated that at 5-15% CPU usage my fans are running fast and loud, and I have to use AC to keep the room cool. The 5800x can be safely operated up to 90°C and will only begin throttling once it reaches 90°C or higher. It’s a relatively high-temperature component because of its compact die size. Typical users experience around 30-40°C during idle and up to 80°C while playing games, which is typical for this chip. For Minecraft, it’s normal to see increased CPU usage when the game loads. If you’re concerned about idle performance, look at what processes are using the CPU while your PC is not running anything.
Case: Be quiet silent base 801 atx mid tower. Most testing and temperatures were recorded in an open case immediately after setup. My room temperature stays between 22-24°C, even with the PC overheating, thanks to the AC. In the photo I'm showing the airflow and there are 6 fans installed on the AIO. The case was always open when those readings were taken.

I'm still working on getting the 5800x. But I've been reading a lot and researching coolers that handle up to 80°C, with idle temps around 30-40°C. Your current idle is at 50°C, which is higher than expected. With an AIO cooler, make sure the airflow inside the case works well and that your AIO is installed correctly—both on the case and on the CPU.
I was concerned initially about the mounting but fixed it using the first cooler. Switching to the new cooler with a different thermal paste brought the temperatures back to normal, matching what I saw in my other answer. The room temperature was around 22-24°C when testing.
To adjust the voltage, access AMD overclocking options, enable PBO, disable limits, then use the curve optimizer. Begin with a negative all-core value of -20. Check if this improves stability. For further testing, run OCCT with extensive, extreme, variable AVX2 tests on each core individually for 15 minutes. This helps identify problematic cores. Adjust per-core offsets accordingly—lower to -25 for successful cores, to -15 for those that failed. Continue until optimal settings are achieved.
I observed them beforehand. At 5800x you rely a lot on silicon luck. I often see this discussion. The aim of undervolting is to maintain the same performance while using less voltage and heat? Otherwise, some might prefer a 5600x if they downclock their 5800x.
