Since I installed my new Samsung SSD, I’ve noticed some issues where programs don’t respond properly. My system runs Windows 8, and there’s currently 71 GB free out of 240 GB total. Also, the disk usage often jumps to 100% on the SSD, which seems to cause the problems. Any suggestions or solutions would be appreciated?

No, I haven't performed a fresh installation of Windows after upgrading to your new SSD.
