I had an i5-8400 in my laptop, so I disassembled a Dell with an i7-6700 to boost performance. The i7 didn’t work and the fans spun but the screen stayed off. After swapping back to the i5, the same issue occurred. What should I do?

First 8400 matches 6700, while 6th and 7th generation CPUs aren't compatible with 8th and 9th generation boards.

Thanks for your assistance. It seems the i5-8400 is still causing issues even after reinstalling it. The fans are spinning and the screen isn’t displaying properly.
