Hey, anyone else having trouble fixing Witcher 3 when you start a fresh Windows version?
I recently bought new Windows 10 and I already copied all my stuff from my old computer. One copy includes Witcher 3 files before I installed Windows, and another one has only the most recent saves. Now here is the problem: after putting Windows on, when I tried to look at those copies, they looked wrong or missing. Even in my backup folder for Witcher 3, all the latest save files disappeared from both folders. The file that was there before, which used to be steam_autocloud.vdf, shows up as just the newest one and nothing else from years ago. I am really confused because I backed up everything including the most recent saves and the main folders of my PC. But I think uninstalling Witcher 3 before backing up messed things up, even though I thought if I deleted it, the save files would stay there. Before I did this many times, when I installed a new Witcher 3 on my old system, it had all those saves but they are gone now. All of my latest files are missing and I am left with just that one newest file called steam_autocloud.vdf which matches the last saved time so maybe it is in the Steam cloud or somewhere else. So reinstalling Witcher 3 in Steam could restore them, but I am still very doubtful because these saves have been there for a year or more. Is there any way to get my saves back or just install Steam and hope that everything will work fine?
Hey, I'm gonna install Witcher 3 today or tomorrow. If life throws me a curveball, maybe I need to take a long break from the game. But if everything works out, I'll do my absolute best to avoid this mess. Honestly, why are all my saved files just disappearing? I only have some old saves left in my other folder after I copied them and formatted that old computer. It feels weird because maybe they're conflicting or something, even though I had separate copies before the steam cloud got all messed up. But hey, another shot at it! Since I've already backed up my old PC's files, I'm trying to restore them and reinstall the game just in case. That's what I'll do if this is going to work out.
And now the save is all lost. I went from Kaer Morhen to Skellige, and I still have to finish Cerid's and Hjalmar's quests. I think I might have lost them both. Wow, how did I make two image backups yet fail to save the game? Oh well, even though the game is really great, in my situation today it is best to quit for now. It will be hard for me to start over again. Now I may try the image backup, but it seems unlikely already checked them and none maybe if I installed it there agh i freaking saved its files but why is it after the backup its gone just why I made a local backup then all that's left was that freaking old file just why also the first saves in white orchard is gone haha wtf is happening man
