They meant the total time spent playing. Like the long TF2 screenshots shared earlier. It's cool to see the longest continuous play session recorded.

So it would be like playing World of Warcraft. And if I had to pick a Steam title, it'd be Counter Strike 1.6 because it's been around since 2001—probably even before TF existed.
