I've encountered a problem with my Crosshair VIII Hero showing a white VGA light and Q-Code 40 only after a shutdown. Restarting Windows clears the issue, but it reverts to Q-Code AA without the Q-LED. According to Asus guidelines in the manual, clearing all lights before booting is advised, and the white Q-LED in my E15378 model indicates a VGA error. I'm currently using a 4K Samsung TV as my display since I don't have a monitor yet. Initially, my GPU was placed in PCIE slot 2 on my NZXT 510 Elite, but poor airflow forced me to switch to slot 1. After moving it, the cover got stuck, pushing the HDMI cord up slightly. I realized the white Q-LED appeared the next day, but removing it required force and the retention clip broke—though it didn’t snap off. Even when reinserted, the clip moved easily, making removal difficult. I’m concerned about losing access to it. It seems to be seated properly now after removing the problematic slot cover, which resolved the seating issue. The reset after restarting suggests further troubleshooting may be needed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
