Here is some advice for setting up my new game rig.
AIO's pump makes a loud noise when there isn't much work going on in the system.
Nope. Quit spraying stuff like that! My machine won't make any noise while I play games. In fact, I sometimes forget if my PC is actually running when I'm playing. Look at all the things I've packed up and put on my label.
I meant to say this: the pump gets louder than tower coolers when not running full speed, and some of them are really loud if they don't have a smart on/off feature called PWM.
Just don't help the OP pick a bad choice between an AIO and loud fans. Check those noise charts for AIOs, and you'll see they aren't worse than regular fans. In most cases, they're quieter than 40-45dB because normal rooms are usually around that level or higher at game volume. The bottom line? A properly sized AIO is quiet compared to case fans. When you run it under load with a game playing in the background, the noise will be hidden! Be honest about this. Oh... what kind of AIO do you actually have?
I own a Deepcool LQ360 II AIO, but its three fans make loud noises when it goes above 50% speed. When the PC isn't working hard, I sometimes hear the pump making bubble-like sounds in my ears. I swapped out all the original fans for new ones and the noise stopped completely. However, nothing changed how cool my CPU feels on my 9950x3d. The old fan was just terrible. After that, I switched to a CoolerMaster H612A and things got quiet. Maybe I'll buy something better when I get an AIO for later projects. What do you think?
The Asus ROG RYUJIN III 360 feels okay in its price, especially when you look past that number. There are better AIOs for both cooling and quietness at the same cost, plus many cheaper options that hit the mark or beat it with longer warranties like the AF2/3. One of the best choices on the market for raw power is the Gigabyte waterforce 2, though you have to pay about $200 for it.
You know you can't use all those AIOs because they are too big or don't fit. Look at how much space my motherboard takes in that Fractal Terra Jade. Two units could have fit without cutting anything out, but one would have needed a cut. I did make the cut (it was actually square). That is the highest temperature a GPU has ever hit while running the Heaven benchmark at max settings on 4K resolution. The main point I'm making still stands: an AIO will be much quieter than a whole case full of fans, and it gives just as good or even better performance for what you want - a quiet computer!
You don't even need a fancy all-in-one cooler for this processor. Just a normal dual tower CPU cooler will do the job perfectly fine.
