Here is how you can get your internet working again:
Just a little while ago, GTA V online told me there was an error about Strict NAT on my computer. The message said turning on uPNP could fix it. I turned that feature on and now the game shows that it's enabled too. Here is how to do it on your own hardware if you don't know what all this page says: How to Fix GTA Online Errors About Strict NAT - Rockstar Games Customer Support
Do you own a TotoLink router? Who is in charge of it? You'll need someone else's help with this.
I have admin privileges, but only if I could figure out where you need to send something without breaking everything else down. https://imgur.com/nMyg2Yd Don't think I'll ever get used to why a gamer gets upset about this, so just for safety I'll try calling the network support team. My old connection never had these problems and all gaming was super smooth, somehow that's back again.
There are rules when it comes to setting up NAT types. Before you start, read some stuff and check your network and games. For starting purposes, here are examples that aren't always solutions: https://portforward.com/nat-types/ https://www.top10vpn.com/guides/how-to-c...-nat-type/ https://support.activision.com/articles/...nd-nat-faq There are many other links online. Try your own search starting with "what is strict nat type" or words that fit your network and game setup. First, make sure you get a clear picture of what's currently set up. Second, find out if there are options to change the Strict NAT setting and where those changes need to happen. Third, only change one thing at a time. Write down everything you change, like before and after settings, and note exactly where each change was made. Wait some time between changes so you don't mess up things too much. If something doesn't work right then try going back and undoing it. If you're not sure what to do then share pictures of the router admin windows that are relevant or correct. This router is: https://www.syntech.co.za/product/t...-x...-0-router/ Correct? Check if I correctly identified the router. Go to the manufacturer's website and download the User Guide/Manual. The guide should have all the steps needed to set up NAT properly [Note: Watch out for other sites that offer guides or manuals. A few of them triggered my antivirus protection]
Alright , thanks for the input, I've send through my request to the network support team with any luck they can sort things out.
FYI: https://www.moval.edu/strict-nat-faq/#:~:text=With a STRICT NAT type, devices) report a STRICT NAT . Probably not directly applicable to your network environment. However, the link does provide a bit of an overview regarding NAT. Another link with more explanation: https://www.purevpn.com/blog/nat-types/ Note the Comparison of NAT Types chart. So whatever your service provider did reconciled the communications between the devices/platforms involved. To understand it all fully it is very likely that some Before and After chart of the NAT configurations will be needed. As a starting point....
Even if you have a public IP address, you often still need to configure your router depending on the game playing. There is way too much wrong advice online about port forwarding. Many people are posting garbage without knowing exactly what needs to be done and where it actually applies. Not many routers or PCs even run firewall software because they already block things by default anyway. My first suggestion would be to turn on something called UPnP. This thing was made to fix this specific problem, though most games use it, especially console ones. But some games can't use it at all. Many people have this turned off because if a virus gets into your PC, it could trick the router and let more attacks happen inside your home network. That's not a big risk but lots of people just leave it on by default because they don't even know about NAT issues. So if that doesn't work, then try actual port forwarding instead. The best way to open NAT is to put your machine in the DMZ, but now you're also more likely to be attacked from outside. It's better to set up port forwarding for specific ports than guess around; however, figuring out exactly which ports are needed can be tricky. You don't want to open unnecessary ports either because that creates entry points for hacks too. Finding real lists of those ports is very hard. Too many dumb gamers just Google random stuff and then post it back as fact even though they have no real idea what's going on.
