Here is a better way to game in a 16:9 shape
Oops, I completely forgot about the TI part when I asked my question before. For how 5070Ti vs 5080 actually works, I haven't looked it up yet. I just wanted some quick opinions first before trying to figure things out myself 😅. I thought there was a comparison between the 5070Ti and the 9070XT that might not work well for high-end monitors on my setup, but I'm more than happy to hear what everyone else thinks and see if those numbers make sense. I'll also check the video later too.
My post was mostly focused on people saying the new RTX 5080 is a huge jump in power compared to the RTX 5070 TI.
So after looking around and doing some research, I am still kind of confused about the graphics card. Everything else is much easier to figure out. The 7900xtx looks like a really good card, roughly the same value as the 5070ti. They seem to cost pretty much the same price, but the xtx usually comes slightly more expensive. I think the 5080 looks better overall, though if it is only about 10 or 15% better and that difference is small, then I am not sure how important it would be for me. I don't know if certain features of a 5080 make the deal worth it at all. A 5080 costs way more than an xtx, usually at least £300. Nvidia looks like the right path to take though. The DLSS feature is really good and since my monitor has G-Sync, I feel like it performs better too. There is also a little extra benefit for the video encoder when streaming. That said, having more VRAM on an xtx would be awesome for my super-modded Skyrim VR games while also streaming at the same time. Am I missing something obvious here or am I just looking at the main points and they are almost totally similar? Which one should I pick? Maybe I could just go with whichever one is cheaper because I put together all kinds of builds and stuff like that before now. For example, this specific build costs about £200 more for a pre-built version but it's nice to see the price difference when making decisions: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/Xjd9v4 I often find myself having trouble figuring out if a certain power supply, cooler, and other things really matter. I just pick based on reviews so far which makes me feel like I'm best off using other people's lists instead! In the end, I really need to figure out which GPU I should get especially if it matters because of my monitor. That is the part where I mostly need help, particularly since the choice could depend on what I have in mind.
You need to add some storage. Here is what I bought from PCPartPicker: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D at £378.85. Cooler: ID-COOLING FROZN A620 PRO SE for £29.99. Motherboard: MSI X670E GAMING PLUS WIFI for £199.99. Memory: Patriot Viper Venom 32 GB DDR5-6000 CL30 for £89.99. Video Card: MSI SHADOW 3X OC GeForce RTX 5080 for £149.99. Case: Montech AIR 903 BASE for £49.99. Power Supply: Super Flower Leadex III Gold UP 1000 W for £149.99. Total cost is £898.80. Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available. So, I've probably got a lot closer to figuring this out and picking something. I had some questions and wanted opinions though. I looked at what I can and can't do just to make it easier for me to choose. Maybe I can go up to 3k instead of 2k? Just might mean waiting a little bit longer. But if that extra cost is huge, then I'd still want to do it. It's not totally out of budget either way. It does seem like I should go for the 5080 for my monitor and goals. If I'm right then at least that part is settled? Works with the GSync monitor and streaming parts too. For the CPU, I noticed there are actually a few X3D options: 7800, 9800, and 9900? I'm guessing the 9900 is overkill but is the £100 jump from 7800 to 9800 very worth doing, especially if this pc stays for a long time? I've also heard debates about whether Mobo needs a B850 or X870 chipset and does it really matter? Same thing with PSU. As long as it's gold and has at least an 850w rating is it going to make a difference? For RAM, I read something about getting AMD's EXPO? Different GPU brands? What's the point of that? There are so many versions of the same GPUs. With all this in mind I've got some lists shared by people who know way more: Why_Me link has a list with a GPU changed to one available - £2200 Logan54321 link has another GPU listed - £2444 Then I threw together a fancy one, just cases and coolers that looked good mostly but made some notes about things I mentioned above like Mobo comments, CPU comments, EXPO Ram (which I struggled to understand) and so on 😅 https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/8sKhZc - £2686 With the GPU being the same in all these, the main difference is just the CPUs and some extra bits. Is my pick one wasteful or silly? Am I better off going with one of the earlier ones or mixing parts from them all? Again, thanks for the help everyone. This is hopefully near the end of all my questions and thinking.
