Half-Life reached consoles in the early 2000s, including a PlayStation 2 release with a co-op mode called Half-Life: Decay. A Dreamcast version was also developed but ultimately scrapped before launch. Half-Life 2 appeared on the original Xbox in a unique late-2004 update, while subsequent titles joined The Orange Box for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. These later ports offered improved graphics and smoother gameplay compared to the original Xbox version. The series was never intended as a traditional console shooter; it consistently targeted PC audiences, with Half-Life 2 embodying that approach.

Not entirely accurate. AAA titles are often exclusive to specific platforms, such as certain consoles. Look at the initial Halo games, God of War, and The Last of Us... On PC, things differ since the platform isn’t governed by one publisher or developer. Still, as mentioned earlier, Valve stands out as a major PC-focused creator and publisher. Blizzard has its own history with earlier titles (Warcraft, Starcraft). Many strategy games are designed exclusively for PC, like Anno 1800.
