Hey
I've been thinking about playing Minecraft lately, especially since it's a calming game after school. I'm interested in exploring mod packs but don't know where to start. I'm familiar with the Tinkers' Construct name but haven't actually played it before. I'm looking for something that's not too detailed, just cool ores and weapons, but still playable in a normal full world. I'd also like to be able to run the game directly from the launcher without needing the Technic version. I'm not looking for anything too heavy, just something around a 1050ti OOF. Any suggestions would be great!

I would consider downloading the Curse launcher and exploring various community-created and "official" modpacks.
I enjoy playing many magical mods such as Thaumcraft and Botania, but I also appreciate some tech-based additions.
If you're just starting with mods, trying Tekkit Classic on the Tekkit launcher could be a good introduction. It's enjoyable, straightforward, and simpler compared to the more complex mods available today.
I'm not sure what's new since I haven't played Minecraft in a while and have modded for a long time.

If you wish to ease the demands of Minecraft and make room for additional mods, Optifine can be a helpful tool. Many excellent mods are designed for earlier versions of the game, like 1.7. It might be worth checking out older mod showcases on platforms such as AntVenom or PopularMMOs. I also found the Rival Rebels mod particularly fun for creative play and the Mutant Creatures mod to be a highlight.

optifart, in the latest updates, seems to perform worse at optimization compared to just installing minecraft forge. Probably because adding too many visual tweaks can backfire.

On topic, here are some modpacks I've found enjoyable lately:
- sevtech ("in-depth" really captures the depth)
- most FTB modpacks, though each has its quirks.
- "stoneblock" offers a fresh twist on gameplay mechanics, providing an engaging experience.

In short, try the "twitch launcher" (formerly known as curse). It's a Twitch desktop app that also handles Minecraft mods and modpacks. Check what's trending, and you'll likely discover a solid option.
