Here are some free or paid tools that let you compare two files and find the parts they have in common, especially helpful for lawyers. It might not fit your specific needs if you only deal with hardware questions, but here are a few websites that can help with this kind of document comparison:

Libre Office can do more than just open files; it lets you combine two different docs into one or check if they are similar. I think Microsoft Office has the same power too, but I haven't tried it yet.

This tool works very well for plain text files and let's add extra features to it easily. You can even check your Microsoft Word docs right inside the program!

You can run PowerShell commands to make those kind of checks. For instance, you might have looked at a link like https://www.auditscripts.com/compar...oduced the comparison between two things online. You could search for something called "powershell to compare two files" and scroll down to see what happened in recent years. There are lots of choices available. Just remember to try any commands or scripts on a test version, keep all your data backed up somewhere safe, and make sure everything is moved away from the main system before starting anything new.

To check if two files are similar, I suggested these tools: https://www.jotform.com/blog/25-useful-d...son-tools/. Libre Office has both Calc (for spreadsheets) and Writer (for documents), which can compare or merge text. For plain text, use winmerge.org. If you have Microsoft Word docs, you can compare them inside Word. Also, PowerShell is good for this. Windows only lets you check two files at a time. Paid sites might handle more than two but probably only take text files. Since we need to compare up to four documents and they must be in Word or Excel format, please sort it out for me.

Checking four documents against each other with some known and unknown differences could take forever and make things messy. It all depends on what exactly you are looking for. First: Websites that charge for work will probably compare more, but they likely only accept plain text files. Talk to them directly and find out how the process works and if there is a price tag. Security might be a problem too, so check that carefully. How trustworthy are these sites? Second: If you don't know your situation well or aren't being careful enough, having four copies of something means you probably need to change how things work or look for special software to handle document changes and revisions better. Configuration management might fit here since you already use Microsoft Word and Excel. Details matter and what you actually need could be more about configuration than just managing files. Third: Keeping this stuff inside your company likely costs less, gives you more control, and lets you adjust easier. Lots of info online talks about document management and the related configurations. Hopefully some advice will come in the form of good practices, steps to follow, and available tools. The link below might offer some ideas or product suggestions: https://www.softwaretestinghelp.com/top-...ent-tools/ You can easily find other links too. Some makers offer free trials so you can test it out on a small setup first.
