What factors might contribute to stuttering in video games?
How can these issues be identified?
And possibly, there are ways to resolve them.

Initially, utilizing a hard disk drive (HDD) instead of a solid-state drive (SSD) may result in choppy gameplay; unfortunately, there’s no definitive solution beyond defragmenting and optimizing the drive. However, upgrading to an SSD would be the most effective remedy. Furthermore, performance problems could stem from inadequate graphics processing unit (GPU), numerous applications running simultaneously, or a dated computer lacking sufficient power for optimal gaming.

This seems likely to be an issue with the storage device; my RX580 was consistently exceeding 150 frames per second. The drive shows a 1% fragmentation level, and I’m unsure how to proceed without addressing this.

Though a hard disk drive might not be disorganized, simply possessing one can lead to pauses or hiccups. Consequently, serious players and broadcasters consistently install their video games onto solid-state drives.

Yes, however, previously everything was completely flawless just four days prior on the identical drive, with the same games.

Could a malicious program like a virus or trojan have been installed on your computer, leading to performance issues? This has occurred to me previously, and I discovered effective software that resolved my PC’s problems without requiring a full Windows reinstall. While I cannot offer a definitive solution, I can suggest potential causes.

Below is a link to excellent software capable of scanning your PC for viruses and eliminating them. It's a commercial product offering a 30-day free trial. Note that the website appears questionable, however, it’s entirely safe to use.

I recently employed a complimentary antivirus program, Kaspersky, which reached 99% completion and identified a malicious Trojan. However, it became unresponsive at that point, locking me out of my computer and preventing me from shutting it down or accessing the Task Manager. I subsequently rebooted and removed the AV software, but I suspect the Trojan remains; therefore, I’ll follow your suggested solution. Thank you.

Apologies for the delayed response; I’m from Europe and needed some rest.

I honestly don't know how to express my gratitude – this completely resolved my stammering.

Thank you so much, I actually cried when I saw the smooth gameplay (it’s a bit overwhelming for me!).

Thank you.
