Avoid joining free-to-play MMOs, particularly the Korean ones, since they usually require payment to win events. It really comes down to personal preference—sort through Steam options and choose what feels right for you. Trying to list many things won’t necessarily help.

Well, I enjoyed playing Genshin Impact a lot. It's an online open-world adventure RPG. Of course, there are loot-box systems (commonly called gatcha in the community) that use in-game currency which can be earned through grinding or paid with real money, but so far I haven't spent any coins to try my chance. If you're into MMORPGs, give this one a shot. Based on what's listed, Overwatch seems like a good option since it shares similarities with CS:GO. I also heard Halo has a free version of a battle arena style FPS, though you might need an Xbox account. Player Unknown BattleGround (PUBG) and Battlefield appear to have free MMO FPS options as well. I haven't played any of these myself (I don’t play much shooting game), so I can’t share details. If you prefer military themes, World of Warship or World of Tanks might suit you. You could also check out DotA 2. Just be aware newcomers often face a lot of bullying. StarCraft 2 now offers free multiplayer if you’re into RTS games—requires a Blizzard account, though I’m unsure if Xbox works without one since Microsoft owns Activision (or was it just Blizzard?). Blizzard also has a game similar to DotA 2, probably ending in “Storm” or something. You can play Among Us for free on mobile devices with Android or iOS, but PC users might have to pay. There are some browser games too. I previously played Astro Empires and had a good time, but as a free player you’re limited in many ways (that’s why I stopped). There’s also Unification Wars (I’m not sure if it still exists).

I tend to gravitate toward MMO titles. One example is Stardew Valley – a farming simulation similar to Harvest Moon where you develop relationships, get married, and raise children. It’s available on Steam. Occasionally Ubisoft releases free games, allowing you to download their clients and explore. I’ve played Assassin's Creed China, India, and recently (though older) some titles. Origin offers free games about once a month previously, but that’s no longer the case. At that time I also enjoyed Peggle, Plants vs. Zombies, and Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 for free. Steam hosts several free titles, though many are multiplayer-focused. The Microsoft Store carries some free games like Disney Magic Kingdom, Sonic Dash, and certain Android versions.

Here are your submissions rephrased for clarity:

- Nullpulmino, Tetris Krunker.io, simple shooter
- No More Room In Hell, Team Fortress 2, shooter
- Starsector, shareware-like space sandbox RPG (DL)
- A Dark Room, browser adventure game
- Portal Stories: Mel, portal universe, free standalone
- Muck, goofy survival multiplayer game
- Sven Co-op, Coop Half-Life 1
- Unturned, heavily moddable zombie sandbox
- War Selection, weird RTS spanning multiple eras
- Alien Swarm, Valve alien survival shooter
- Endless sky, space story-driven RPG
- Fortress Forever, Arena Fighter (Brawlhalla)
- Lots of tiny projects and games waiting to be discovered

Game development has been ongoing for over four decades, with many creators focusing on building rather than just marketing.
