I possess several vintage video games, available only on physical media, which are incompatible with my current Windows 10 system – including titles like Rome: Total War, Black & White, Rogue Spear, and Grand Theft Auto 3. My objective is to set up a virtual operating system (using VirtualBox) that will be capable of running these older games.

It’s possible you could successfully execute these systems using DOSBox. A challenge I encounter when trying to run older operating systems within a virtual environment is the requirement for an activation key; this necessitates periodic reloads, usually every few months.

Older versions of Windows like XP are now outdated, however, it might be possible to get some of them running on modern Windows 10 systems. 😄

A YouTuber I know enjoys playing Grand Theft Auto III expertly. However, I’m uncertain about the performance of the other two titles as my experience with them was limited to their initial release. It’s likely that updates and corrections exist for these games, given their enduring popularity. Ultimately, using Windows XP is the most straightforward method for running those games without needing to install updates or modify configuration files.

I'm referring to the physical copy of Grand Theft Auto III, not the digital version available on Steam.

I'm uncertain, as my DVD player is currently inoperable. 😅

Here’s the link to the GTA forums containing the updates you require:

These games don't necessitate DOSBox, as it’s primarily for older titles, but it can be quite beneficial to have installed when you require it.
