Sometimes when I plug in a USB thing while my computer is on, it shows up nowhere at all. At first I thought maybe just the external drive wasn't working, but then my webcam stopped showing too (it's on a switched hub). So I unplugged my mouse and put it back into the motherboard port, still nothing. The lights didn't turn on and the computer didn't see it either. I tried turning off USB selective suspend to see if that fixed things but nothing happened. This is brand new trouble; before there were no problems for two days and now there are. I have not changed anything or added new stuff. Any chance you can figure this out?
Hey there, can you share all the details about your computer's parts and what operating system it runs on? Did you switch that USB hub around? If so, tell me the brand, the specific model, how many ports it has, whether it needs its own power, or if you just plugged it into one.
My Windows 11 and my hardware are all in fine shape. The hub that switched between them is not the cause, but rather a Sabrent 4-port hub with its own power switches. I checked this by using the ports on the back of the motherboard. Surprisingly, things started working again after a while. Honestly, I have no idea what was wrong!
