Older sibling upgraded, replacing i5 8400 and using a new motherboard for everyone. I purchased additional RAM and helped my younger brother with the upgrade. While I was outside cleaning the case, he added a heatsink, probably not following the instructions carefully—especially not tightening it evenly. The CPU PCB on the left side appears damaged. Which Intel or AMD generation should I consider for an upgrade? I already have 16GB of DDR4 3200MHz RAM, so I’d like to stick with that. They support games like Apex, Valorant, OW2, and Dad plays WOW, Diablo II/III. I haven’t been following CPU performance updates much lately, so this is my question. Mostly, I want something stable without overclocking—just reliable speed.
The 5600x offers strong performance for gaming on a B450/550 board and is quite affordable at the moment.
