helpHelp with my Slow wifi speeds
I wasn't sure what to include in the title, so please give me a moment. I just upgraded my motherboard and added some RAM and an AIO. Once everything was set up, I realized it's taking ages to load websites or even fails completely. I'm connected at 700 Mbps but only gets under an MB upload speed. I've checked the internet, bought new Ethernet cables, and tried numerous fixes, but nothing works. Eventually, I switched to Ookla instead of Google, and it turned out my issue was with just one Wi-Fi server. When I connect to a better one, speeds jump to 800 down and 900 up. It would help if my computer could avoid the slower server automatically, but it doesn't seem to do that. Until then, I'm stuck with extremely slow performance.
Switch your DNS configuration to Google or Open DNS addresses and observe any changes in performance.
I'm not completely confident since I've tried other gadgets (my phone, laptop, and my brother's PC) and they all function at a minimum of 200 Mbps upload speed.
It might not be my computer at all—it looks like Chrome is the main issue. I’m able to download games smoothly across different platforms, Discord works fine, etc., but I still can’t figure out what’s wrong.
Check how many updates you need. Remove and restart completely, then install each extension individually to identify the issue.
I removed Chrome fully before but extensions remained. I should delete everything and restart again. The small improvement came from checking "chrome://flags/" and enabling "Parallel downloading." I also cleared the DNS and reset Winsock 800 times for consistency. I looked for motherboard drivers but wasn't sure if they were current or correct. My board is an Asrock H570 PHANTOM GAMING 4 Intel H570 LGA 1200 ATX. I haven’t updated the BIOS yet.
