Help with TeamViewer
Help with TeamViewer
Hello... I’m trying to confirm if I posted in the right forum.
Among my friends, I’m often the one who uses Teamviewer for more than ten years. A few months ago (possibly longer), I realized I needed to sign up on their website to access my friends’ computers for troubleshooting or assistance. They didn’t require registration if I was the one connecting remotely. Only I had to register. After that, I signed up and everything worked fine.
But recently I couldn’t connect to a friend’s computer. A pop-up warned me to install an update first. Once done, I still couldn’t get connected.
Could Teamviewer be free for personal use now? Are there other free alternatives I could consider?
When all this registration process began, I could log into my friends’ machines, but it would take about five minutes, then wait fifteen minutes before being able to log back in again, only to be dropped off within another five minutes.
Most of my friends are similar—older and less tech-savvy. While I’ve managed some hardware and software updates, my friends haven’t. Simple fixes are becoming harder to handle. Unlike a decade ago, it seems I might have moved out of state now, making it difficult to visit them in person for computer issues.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you, mmaroid
I'm the same person again.
Lately, I assisted my youngest brother, who isn't tech-savvy, with fixing some problems. I used this link:

After setting it up, it proved really helpful.
