Navigate to BIOS, configure the boot device to the hard disk, then proceed to BBS priorities and locate the appropriate hard drive (if multiple exist)

Your system doesn’t require a hard drive to start up via BIOS. The BIOS is already set up on the motherboard.

When I insert the HDD, it fails to start and nothing powers on. If I had to try, I’d have to take it out before setting it up in BIOS.

Remove the HDD, start BIOS, then reattach it.
