Help with OC doubt
Help with OC doubt
I chose to skip the auto OC the MOBO does for my CPU and decided to handle it myself.
MOBO: ASUS Z97 PRO-GAMER
CPU: i5 4690k
PSU: Corsair RM750
Currently, it’s been running prime95 for 40 minutes at 4.5 at 1.2V, everything stable.
4.6 at 1.25V turned blue after 15 minutes (image attached).
My question is, should I attempt a lower voltage like 1.15V or should I raise it to 1.25V and maintain 4.5 for stability? Someone mentioned that lowering the voltage even if stable might increase heat output, which is confusing for me right now. Thanks in advance.
Lower voltage means reduced power and cooler temperatures. This is the principle behind OCing, and the question is about how far you can increase frequency before stability is lost.
