I have an Athlon x2 250 CPU and an ASUS M4N68T M V2 MB. It’s not the best setup I know, but I’m planning an upgrade soon. I’m trying to optimize my current configuration so I can understand what works and what doesn’t. I recently changed my CPU frequency to 3.5GHz. It ran stably for about two days until I restarted the computer and the system reported an OC failure. I then reduced the multiplier from 230 to around 225, which brought it down to 3.4 and showed some improvement for a couple more days. After that, I slightly increased the voltage and again tried lowering the multiplier to 223 while keeping the voltage unchanged. Now it’s at 3.3GHz. It’s still behaving the same way. Should I lower the multiplier further or raise the voltage? Thanks in advance.

The best approach is to study some tutorials on how to adjust and test your system properly.
Here are useful resources for AMD CPUs:
http://www.overclock.net/t/1140459/bulld...lts-coming
http://www.amd.com/Documents/AMD_FX_Perf..._Guide.pdf
These documents focus on the AMD line of processors. If you switch to AMD, they’ll explain the necessary steps and components.
For Intel upgrades, different guides are required due to varying settings—your Intel GURUs should help you find the right path.

The recommended approach is to consult tutorials on proper adjustment and testing methods. For AMD CPUs, consider these resources:
http://www.overclock.net/t/1140459/bulld...lts-coming
http://www.amd.com/Documents/AMD_FX_Perf..._Guide.pdf
These guides focus on AMD's CPU line. If you switch to Intel, use a different reference since settings differ. One of the Intel GURUs should be able to help.
