Gears of War Ultimate Edition is launching on PC soon. Where can I purchase it? It’s available from MS Store, but you might need to add your Xbox Gamer Tag. Can I buy it on my PC with an Xbox Gift Card? That’s a bit unclear, but I’m new to the MS Store. Since I don’t have a credit card, are there other options? Also, is the release date set for August 25th for both console and PC, or will it be later?

It seems likely it will be available on Steam, so keep an eye on the release before purchasing any game.

Microsoft discontinued their "Games for Windows Live" platform, which needed a Microsoft/Xbox Live account to buy games. Now PC users typically purchase titles through Steam or other third-party retailers. We have no information about when it will return for PC, its cost, or availability. It seems they are restarting the release of GoW1 on PC, possibly under a new name such as "Gears of War Ultimate Edition."

We actually have the details. The SolidussX Gears of War Ultimate Edition will be accessible through the Xbox app on Windows 10 for PC. It won’t be available in physical form until later, but it requires an internet connection and Windows 10 installation. Xbox functions as a platform tied to Windows 10, not just a console. You’ll log in with your Microsoft account to buy the game—no need for Steam. Your Xbox Live account matches your Microsoft account, and everything is bundled together. The Ultimate Edition on Windows 10 via Xbox supports DX12, offers unlimited framerate, 4K resolution, full mouse and keyboard control, plus dedicated servers. There’s no mention of cross-platform multiplayer; it seems unlikely.
