Your X99 Pro supports M.2 x4 slots, so it should work with a Gen 3 NVMe M.2 drive such as the SK Hynix Gold P31.

The chipset itself is version 2, but unless the M.2 port was connected to the chipset, it should operate at version 3 performance.

I chose to ask ASUS for clarification and got help with interpretation. It seems my M.2 slots can handle up to 32Gb/s, which aligns with the SK Hynix Gold P31 I’m considering. Unless there’s anything else I need to know, I should stop thinking about buying it for $135.
