So, I'm looking for a new notebook now. The choices are limited by my location and I've already decided on the following models:
A) Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ARH05
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 4600h
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1650ti 4gb
120hz Panel
Price: € 849
B) Lenovo Legion Y540-15irh
CPU: Intel i7 9750hf
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1660ti 6gb
144hz Panel
Price: € 1075

I plan to upgrade the memory to dual channel 16gb, regardless of the model I pick (both have 8gb in a single channel), and I’ll also increase the storage capacity. Those details aren’t really important to me. As for features like FreeSync or Optimus, I haven’t found anything strong yet about these specific models.

I need the laptop to manage heavy multitasking, light video & photo editing (rendering, non-professional music production, 3D modeling), as well as extensive gaming—something like Doom Eternal, heavily modded Skyrim, GTA V, Cyberpunk 77, The Medium, Scorn, etc. I don’t expect these to run at top-tier performance, just enough smoothness for whatever I want, even on lower settings.

I’m curious whether the upgrade from the GTX 1650ti to the GTX 1660ti really makes a difference in terms of performance, and if choosing the i7 is still better than the i5. I also want to know about future-proofing, since I plan to build a solid PC eventually.

I’d really appreciate detailed explanations so I can better understand what matters most in hardware choices.
Thanks in advance! Have a cookie on me!
Cheers

I notice numerous complaints regarding gaming laptops not functioning optimally.
Typically, gaming occurs when connected to a power source.
A frequent issue is thermal throttling.
Laptop coolers need to be compact and lightweight.
They are also generally less powerful overall.
Both processors will behave similarly.
Intensive multitasking tends to benefit the Ideapad.
Gaming is better suited for the Legion due to superior single-thread performance and quicker display response.
Comparing both models, it seems the Ideapad features a more durable cooler when gaming or heavily multitasking while powered on.
