If the B550 Tomahawk meets all your requirements, adding a USB hub and Bluetooth adapter might be a clever workaround. Unless there are hidden issues with the unit, it appears you're missing just a few ports and Bluetooth functionality. The M.2 slot works, it has a solid 6-layer PCB, strong VRM, 2.5GbE Ethernet, and an internal Type C port. I’m wondering if this is truly the best fit for you—without breaking the bank. A $70 extra would be reasonable, bringing it close to the $250 mark if the board performs well. Anything over $180 seems to push you toward the x570 chipset. To avoid its high-end cooling and get the features you need, the Tomahawk or Gaming Edge with a hub seems like the logical choice.
The ASUS and ASRock boards outperform the MSI board in most aspects, though each comes with its own compromises. Both carry higher costs, but the added value of Intel network chipsets may justify the price for some. Updates are expected soon, promising improved performance and further price increases.
I completely grasp it. I've tested various mainboards in several configurations. I usually opt for premium boards and use LN2 for my daily drivers. The cheaper ones I use are cheaper, but I often push their limits. This means I haven't quite hit the 8GHz range on AMD FX chips. I didn’t want to risk damaging my Crosshair V Formula board, which cost a lot. That was a daily driver—never saw temps below Geothermal ambient, just not freezing. Later, I sold it because it kept its value well. High-end parts tend to retain their worth longer. When you check top OC boards from any era, you’ll see my point. But as you said, every board can handle the CPU. I understand that.
It looks promising. I’ve been considering extra cards, but add-ons also work. Reviewing the block diagrams for b550 and x570 might clarify things. Generally, x570 offers more flexibility since it uses PCIe 4 throughout, effectively doubling the bandwidth. The Ryzen chips have limited PCIe lanes, whereas both b550 and x570 support PCIe 4, which is quite efficient. Running a high-speed PCIe GPU in the top slot with a lower-speed USB card underneath maximizes the top lane usage while still providing ample rear connectivity. Using PCIe 3 or a combination of PCIe 3 and 4 could yield even better rear ports. Some boards also include internal USB headers for front case connections, though these are usually pricier. If only basic USB is needed, it might be achievable at a lower cost.
As noted by @chimimoryo, the B550 Taichi seems to be an excellent match! It works well in my setup and performs adequately so far. I haven’t checked the audio yet since I’m using a wireless headset, but the port configuration is impressive—8x USBs, multiple USB 3.0 headers, Type C, PCIe Gen 4 slots, NVMe support, RGB headers, and solid storage options. It also has a clean CMOS and BIOS flashback. Personally, it looks great on an AM4 board, similar to the X570 MEG Ace, Hero, Tomahawk, and B550 Gaming Carbon models I’ve used before. Performance-wise, any motherboard is fine; just pick what fits your needs best. I recently bought one for $259—still a great value with all these features!
I have just about everything I need for USB: K95 RGB Platinum (two USB2 ports, or one USB3 will suffice; the latter requires two for pass-through, which I don’t use). C920 webcam, Blue Yeti microphone, Cakewalk audio interface (for my synth, it’s a hobby project, doesn’t need constant connection, though a tidy setup would help), mouse (I’m thinking a Bluetooth one), and possibly a streaming device (StreamDeck, not yet committed, won’t be needed soon). Fitbit charging is also included. Currently I have around four items, five with the interface. If I switch to a Bluetooth mouse and skip USB passthrough, it drops to four; otherwise it stays at five with the interface always connected. A simple USB3 hub for about $30 could improve things, especially if my five ports ever start to cause trouble. To my knowledge, that’s essentially the only limitation—unless the built-in Bluetooth on Gaming Edge isn’t strong enough, which could be added via an add-on card or a USB port.
The mic, webcam, and whatever a K95 is will probably need separate USB connections since they’re quite bandwidth-intensive. I’m not sure about the synth—maybe it does. The mouse, keyboard, and charging all use very little data; USB1 works fine for them, and the Fitbit doesn’t transmit any data at all. It seems USB1 isn’t around anymore either. Just because a port is on the back of a device doesn’t mean each port gets its own channel. With lots of high-bandwidth devices, a dedicated card would be better than a hub because a hub splits bandwidth while a card adds to it. You should expect two USB channels, each with several ports on the motherboard. An extra USB card could provide one or two more channels, possibly more, depending on the card.
The K95 RGB Platinum is an RGB keyboard from Corsair featuring USB passthrough. From what I've gathered, it can be powered via one USB 3 port or possibly two USB 2.0 ports for the passthrough functionality. If the passthrough isn't a priority, I don't mind the extra ports—it just shifts the setup a bit. I'm still exploring other options like the Asus Rog Strix and ASRock Taichi.
Regarding audio, I'm interested in the Realtek ALC1200; it seems closer to earlier models than the ALC1220. For sound quality, I'd prefer a decent DAC/AMP setup, which is something new to me but worth considering. I'm also curious about Intel LAN—some claim it's superior, though I haven't confirmed it.
If possible, I'm open to spending up to around $260 for the Taichi (or $300 normally), especially since I've already invested nearly $2,000 in this build. My main concerns are whether Intel LAN offers real benefits and if an external audio interface or DAC would be a better choice. I also need to check if a USB hub or PCI card can accommodate more ports.

The K95 doesn't offer high bandwidth. It consumes a significant amount of power, which lowers the count of devices that can use it.
The B550 Auros Master features an ALC 1220-VB board that seems appealing. At around $300, there are many USB ports available. What catches my eye is the three M.2 slots which appear stylish and easy to reach. The Intel LAN performance is excellent, while AMD incorporates it into their motherboards.
