amd fx8320 base clock 3.5k turbo 4k
i used amd overdrive for a short time and then set up windows on an ssd without moving files much. now my cpu clocks are unusual, staying near 3.7k, and they don’t seem to lower in my desktop when no games or programs are running. i tried a cmos reset using the paperclip on the two prong connectors on my ga-78lmt-USB3 6.0. when i opened bios, the date appeared to have been reset, but i’m not sure if that was just because it was unplugged and i’m not certain the cmos reset actually worked.

for most of the time the cores are at 3.7k it’s fine, the cooler handles it, but sometimes i think a turbo boost is needed for a particular core, which doesn’t seem to happen.
Remove AMD Overdrive and restart the BIOS again.
Open the control panel, select Power options, then choose Balanced mode.
This should resolve the issue. If problems persist, turn on power-saving features such as Cool'N'Quiet or Eco Mode in the BIOS.
