I have a computer with more power than what my family requires, and I'm setting it up for two users to access it simultaneously, similar to Windows Multipoint. I considered using SoftXpand but it claims not to support Windows 8. I'll try it to check, but if it doesn't work, I have other options. My alternatives are Aster, which does support Windows 8, though I'm uncertain about its quality, or a Linux-based solution that could replace Multipoint, with Windows 8 virtual desktops on each client. Anyone have further suggestions or concerns about these ideas?

It would be simpler to rely on a single point instead of multiple connections.

I might have been mistaken and should read more. After reviewing, I think I need a 2012 multipoint license ($300) plus a CAL for each person. The most affordable CALs I've found are $100 per person or $150 for five. If I only need to set up for two people, it would cost $450, which might make sense to build another PC. I'm also unsure if I'll require a Windows 8 license for each CAL.
