I performed a fresh Windows 10 installation via recovery settings—it was at 40 percent then the screen went dark. I assumed it would restart automatically, so I waited a while. Eventually, it remained black. I decided to perform a hard reset. When I tried to power it back on, only a black screen appeared, though the fans started and RGB lighting worked, but no display showed or even the BIOS screen appeared. I attempted to clear the CMOS by removing it for five minutes and also tried re-seating the RAM, but there was still no solution.
I noticed the CMOS battery was removed, but did you use a screwdriver to touch the +and- terminals and slightly short the connection? That could help clear the capacitors more quickly. If you have a CMOS jumper, apply it as well and let the device run for about 30 minutes without power. This process is known as power cycling and often resolves the problem.
How can I perform a clean setup even though my monitor shows nothing and the BIOS isn’t visible?
Ensure proper restart by power cycling; when starting your PC, press and hold the power button for 3-5 seconds. Since your BIOS wasn't updated with the latest install, this shouldn't cause problems. Do you own a dedicated GPU or an integrated one? If you have both, have you experimented with switching between them?
Are there alternative connectors you might want to consider? For instance, if HDMI isn't working, you could switch to DVI or use a different cable altogether. I've experienced problems with faulty HDMI cables too, so giving it another shot is definitely worth a look.
He already attempted connecting an old GPU from his previous PC to check for display issues, but it didn’t work and the screen remains black. Also tried using another cable. Updated: September 3, 2023 – New to PC stuff
