Help Overclocking FX-8320
Hello everyone! I just completed a stress test on my very first CPU overclock. It took around three hours to raise my 8320 from its stock speed of 3.50ghz to a steady 4.36ghz. I ran Aida64 for an hour and performed several Cinebench tests. I’m reaching out to some experts to review my configuration and confirm everything is correct. A second perspective would be very helpful.
I have a few concerns:
- Which settings should remain enabled and which should be disabled?
- With so many parameters set to auto, could that impact stability?
- The stress tests didn’t seem thorough enough.
- Here’s a summary of my system:
- AMD FX-8350 @ 4.368Ghz, 1.320V
- MSI 990FX Gaming Motherboard
- Hyper TX3 heatsink with 80mm fan (facing across VRM heat sink)
- Seasonic S12 II 520W Bronze PSU
- 8 GB G.Skill 1333Mhz RAM
I’ve attached screenshots of the BIOS settings.
Regarding your questions:
- Is it accurate to say that FSB overclocking boosts single-core performance more than multiplier overclocking? I’ve seen some references but haven’t found solid proof. If you could share any documentation or logical reasoning, it would be greatly appreciated.
- For reaching an extra 50mhz without raising the voltage, what adjustments should I consider? Any tips on tweaking the settings could help me hit around 4.40ghz?
Thanks in advance for your help!
