help overclocking 4.5ghz
I’m trying to boost my CPU speed. I know it’s an older system—Asus Sabertooth 990fx r2.0, AMD FX-4300, 4GB RAM, 550w cooler, 240GB SSD, and HD 7850. I want a stable 4.5GHz. Every time I set the multiplier to 4.5 it crashes during Windows or AIDA64 stress tests. I’m new to this process. I’ve increased the voltage gradually until it became unstable at 4.4GHz, then added small increments and found stability at my current setting. I pushed the core up to 4.5GHz but it’s still unstable, so I kept raising the voltage up to 1.5V, which is above the max listed in the manual. All other settings are off—CPU, C1E, C6, APM, and cooling are disabled. My temperatures often hit 50°C during stress tests. I really appreciate any advice or help you can give me to reach that speed. Let me know if you need more details.
It's likely your specific chip cannot go higher than 4.4 GHz, nothing you can do about it.
