custom loop cooling for cpu and gpu
asus rog strix 2080ti
samsung 970 pro 512gb
what mmo settings should i use to get optimal performance from the graphics card and samsung pro? only x8 or raid are supported, no x16 detected. should i keep the m.2 slot close to pcie lane 1 to improve performance further?
i can keep cpu stable across all cores up to 4.2. for the gpu, in the gpu tweaks I can only manage a boost clock of 1795 with a memory boost of 100 before it freezes. any advice or corrections would be greatly appreciated. thanks ahead.
Samsung 970 pro supports PCIe Gen 3.0 x4 and NVMe 1.3, eliminating the need to configure Gen 4 in BIOS—just allow auto-detection of Gen 3 x4.

Temperatures can be quite high, impacting transfer speeds. Both the 970 evo and evo plus run on PCIe Gen 3.0 x4.

User reviews note that the drives slow down under load. After 44GB of data transfer, write speeds halve to half their original rate. Read and write speeds decrease during a 10GB test, dropping to 500MB/s.
The first section discusses page 1 to 8 of the manual. If nothing was altered, there’s no need to modify anything. A 2080Ti won’t cause excessive saturation in PCIE 4.0 at x8 mode, though it may over-saturate PCIE 3.0 at the same setting. Adjusting to x16 mode wouldn’t make a difference.
The second part repeats the same advice regarding the M.2 drive. It’s best not to change anything if it’s the sole storage device currently in use. Simply install the device and apply its firmware or driver, that’s sufficient.
The third point advises keeping the CPU core clock unchanged—avoid setting a fixed frequency, as this can be counterproductive.
how do i install pcie 4 on my system? is it automatic?
i have a samsung 970 pro in the top m.2 slot and a 970 evo in the lower m.2 slot, but both aren't working well. read 2019 says 1866 for the pro, write 1189 for the evo. was there a difference in the slot?
i'm really worried about changing ram because there are so many variables involved, and if i mess up, everything could fail.
Navigate to bios(Advanced Mode) > Advanced menu/tab > Onboard Devices Configuration.
PCIEX16/X8_1 Mode: Choose Gen4
M.2_1 Link Mode: Set to Gen4
M.2_2 Link Mode: Also set to Gen4
These settings assume bios isn't already operating those devices at Gen4 speeds.
Is the memory operating at 3200mhz?
Memory is configured at 3200, initialized in BIOS and verified using hwinfo. The dcop profile controls it, while a setting for adjusting frequency is available at the end of the options menu, which I changed to 3400.
