Hi everyone,
I'm facing a bit of a problem with my PC that I'd love some assistance fixing.
A few weeks back, after turning it off, I restarted it the next morning. It would only boot for a short moment before shutting down right away.
Initially, I suspected a bad power supply, so I considered upgrading my system. But when I connected the new PC last week, the same issue appeared. This made me think the problem could be related to the wall outlet or the home’s electrical setup—especially since I live in an older house.

Details to note:
I still have a surge protector installed, but I’m unsure if the old PC was connected to it or directly to the wall before the failure started. I remember it worked perfectly from that same outlet for over a year.
For the new PC, I accidentally plugged it straight into the wall instead of using the surge protector initially.
With the old system, I upgraded my graphics card from a 3080 to a 4070 TI a few days prior to the problem, but everything functioned normally for a while before it failed.

I’ve tried basic troubleshooting—resetting the motherboard, removing RAM—and even tested the wall socket voltage with a multimeter. It reads 240V (live/neutral and live/earth), which suggests the outlet is fine.
Still, the same socket powers a router and a floor light without issues.
I attempted to move the new PC to a different outlet in the house, but the problem continued. I’m wondering if there’s something else at play here.

Before proceeding, could you advise what I should check or do next? I’m really stuck and appreciate any guidance.
Thanks a lot!

This Corsair 1000 RMx PSU is suitable for the new PC, while the previous model used an 850 RMx one.
