Help needed with ongoing PC freezes
Help needed with ongoing PC freezes
Just a brief note, I've updated the PSU but it hasn't fixed the issue. I'll keep looking for other ways and appreciate any more ideas you might have.
It seems you're looking for confirmation that the issue has been resolved. I've been testing the system for a few hours without any freezes, and power usage appears to be affected. I'm still unsure if this is resolving a more serious problem. A screenshot was captured recently, showing no crashes after reinstalling RAM, soundcard, and several programs. I'll continue monitoring and update you on any changes.
5900x tends to act up a lot, which is why I had issues with my water cooling setup. I ended up lowering the voltage to 1.35V using a minus offset of 0.17500; otherwise it would exceed its maximum limit of 1.5V. Additionally, I adjusted the RAM speed to 3000 instead of 3200 because the RAM became unstable over time.
The experience was very interesting; please keep us informed. C-states have minimal impact on power usage. There’s no major concern, though it seems we might not have fully resolved the issue—just hidden it. If freezes happen, here are some steps: first, reinstall the OS completely, skipping hardware drivers and checking system stability for a short period. If stable, install drivers one by one, giving time for checks before each new driver. This could help identify the root cause.
it's also possible the thermal paste has dried out because of the high heat and voltage. use isopropyl pads, clean the CPU and heat block, then spread mx6 evenly. i've posted several details about the process here. https://forums.
Interesting would be a fitting description, though it's also quite frustrating. Still, it's refreshing to revisit how PCs function when troubleshooting, this is definitely new territory for me.
Key points from the situation: in cases of recurrence, about five hours seems reasonable—this was just one evening.

I trust this captures the relevant part. The previous image was taken after turning off C-states. Not using PBO, performance has remained stable for my needs without extra tweaks or overclocking.
Thanks for your feedback—I'll adjust based on what I learn.
👍
I have some paste ready, planning to reapply and probably doing so again.
That thread was really interesting, I’ll definitely look into it more since it contained a lot of helpful information that matched my needs.
Appreciate your feedback

Yes, sorry, I might have miscommunicated myself.
Looking at your second screenshot, it looks like your motherboard is slightly overclocking the CPU, as indicated by the peak frequency of 4.9 GHz compared to the 4.8 GHz specified in the 5900X. This could be related to the higher core voltage, though it’s unrelated to your issue. I wrote this to ease any concerns about overvoltage.
Good luck!
