I’m struggling to understand what’s happening with my online game. I’ve been playing on my laptop for a few years now. It normally has a stable 45-50 ping with no issues. But recently it changed—stays at 45/50 and then suddenly jumps to 80-100 every ten seconds. I checked everything else, made sure no large files were downloading, and even tried all the different ports. I don’t think there are any viruses. Even when I switched to another laptop, it didn’t spike either. Both are on Wi-Fi, and with an Ethernet cable it works smoothly on both devices. I took my parents for a look, but they said it was just my network adapter. It’s still running steadily there.

I have AT&t internet
14.8 Mbps download speed
1.0 (this is the best I can get… life is sad)

I’m wondering if the router or modem might be the problem.

I used the exact specifications of the laptop to scan for viruses and malware.
