Hi, I'm experiencing issues with my computer where games play for unpredictable durations and then the screen goes black temporarily while audio remains audible. After a brief pause, the system restarts with a failure code. This appears to be a hardware-related problem affecting Windows' functionality. The error code is 141, and the details provided include the OS version, service pack, product info, and specifications such as RAM, GPU, and motherboard. I've already tried reinstalling graphics drivers using DDU, updated the BIOS, and changed the RAM sticks. The system runs Windows 10 64 bit with an Intel i9-10850k processor at 3.60 GHz, 4 x 64 GB of XMP-compatible storage, and a Corsair RMX 750 power supply. It uses water cooling and has an Asus Prime Z490-P motherboard. The Event Viewer shows a kernel-power event. I'm unsure if the issue is related to power outlets or insufficient power supply, and I need advice.
Black screen with sound still available may indicate VRAM usage. Checking via Gpu-Z(sensors tab) or hwinfo(sensors only) can reveal the GPU memory junction. Confirm if all 8GB of VRAM is being recognized. Attempted reverting to an older driver? Try running Msi Afterburner or the Asus alternative, lowering the memory clock to the lowest setting, applying changes, and test if the crash reoccurs. Higher frequencies mean tighter memory timings (primary and secondary), and more occupied slots make it harder for the CPU's Internal Memory Controller to function properly. IMCs are affected by hardware variability. Also, if the package wasn't purchased in its original form (4 dimm) but as a bundle of two separate kits, it introduces an extra source of instability—since you're responsible for ensuring compatibility.
Hey Thanks for the the answer i have checked if all the 8 gb of VRam is there and they are and my RAM is running at 2666 MHz and they should be able to do 4000 but i will try ASUS GPU tweak now and i will get back to you after
Just tried downloading Asus GPU Tweaker, lowered memory clock to the lowest, but still got a black screen after restart. Now it shows the ID: LKD_0x141_Tdr:6_IMAGE_nvlddmkm.sys_Ampere_UserOC. I'm planning to try an older driver tomorrow but don't know which one to use.
It could be the GPU is defective or there are software issues. Additionally, the 10850K consumes a significant amount of power; when combined with a 220W GPU, the overall power draw reaches approximately 500W, not including overclocking or other components. I believe you're likely using up to 700W maximum.
I didn't hear back about the memory junction. Is it viewable at all? I'm gonna post other ideas below in case that doesn't turn up anything, because if it actually is faulty vram, there's nothing you can do about it.
1)I see you tried switching ram sticks. Did you try to play with only one stick in the board?[Ignore the obvious performance lost doing this.]
2)Run Command Prompt, and enter "sfc /scannow". Confirm whether it finds and fixes and integrity violations.
3)Got any spare monitor cables you can swap in, or is there another PC you can try the gpu in?
4)Are any riser cards, or cable extensions in use? If so, install the gpu without them.
I have attempted to use only two other Runs with just two RAM sticks, but that didn't help. I replaced some cables and even got a new monitor, yet when stress testing with OCCT it didn't crash. However, I don't have another computer to test the GPU on. I've tried using the scannow command, but nothing has worked. I'm considering rolling back a driver and possibly running the PC elsewhere, as my home power outlets sometimes lack sufficient power. If the issue persists, I'll look into getting a new power supply.
