The system handles 1700 units and operates smoothly at 3700x. With OC enabled, it works without issues. RAM is sufficient.

it offers a nice setup. for six sata ports, the mortar performs well—it uses four SM4337 and four SM3503 chips, has two m.2s, which is solid. alternatively, you might consider what @ShrimpBrime mentioned. regarding the tomahawk's VRM, it outperforms the aorus pro in terms of voltage regulation. the 3700x draws less power compared to the 1700/x, which is a clear advantage. several factors influence RAM overclocking, but the tomahawk's design is adequate. it’s a 4-layer board, which isn’t exceptional unless you’re targeting extreme frequencies (above 4400). overall, it’s a solid choice.

You're referring to the Msi B450M mortar max. It's correct, but you prefer ATX and want two M2 ports for M2S. Tomahawk is indeed better for overclocking and VRM performance, especially in Greece where the price is reasonable.

My 3700X is configured for 4.4 GHz all-core at 1.325V, delivering roughly 125W under full load. I’m using a 2x8GB Crucial Ballistix 3600MHz stick at CL14, which avoids memory problems. This board has always worked perfectly and meets all my requirements. There’s no need to upgrade for better performance—high-end boards only add features, not speed. As long as your motherboard doesn’t throttle, there’s no gain from premium options. Only functionality and overclocking limits matter.
