Help me set up my PC!
Help me set up my PC!
Hey everyone!
I'm planning to build a PC mainly for architectural projects, so I'll be using the rendering engine most of the time.
I've picked an i7 14700k CPU and a 4070ti GPU.
I'm still unsure about the RAM – should I go with DDR5 or something else? What size would be best? Will it really make a difference in performance? And which brand should I choose? Also, I was thinking of a budget around $1800.
Please help me understand this better and suggest some good motherboards.
You need two RAM sticks. The 14700k still performs poorly, and the 4 extra E cores on the 13700k aren't justified by an additional $70 compared to the 13700k. Unless you require a system right away, it makes sense to wait for the Ryen 9000 release this month.
This build features additional cores and RAM while keeping the GPU slightly under budget constraints. It's unclear precisely what optimization goal you're aiming for—whether it's focused on CPU or GPU performance. Please clarify if your workload leans more toward CPU tasks or GPU usage.

It varies by software, but both are important. Having more VRAM and CUDA cores helps, though Nvidia usually wins out. A 64GB RAM with a 5600 MHz is sufficient right now; adding more would be unnecessary. Upgrading to 128 GB later is possible if needed, but many programs don’t require it.
