Help me overclock my i5-6600K
Hello, my i5-6600K processor is installed on a Gigabyte Z170-HD3P motherboard.
I just increased the CPU speed to 4.4GHz and want to verify if this is safe.
In Task Manager it still displays "Maximum speed : 3.50GHz". Is this typical?
I'm using the Gigabyte EasyTune app and set the CPU VCore to 1.2V.
Within EasyTune, when I press the default button it adjusts the VCore to 1.29V—should I consider changing it back to 1.2V?
I also have a GTX 1070 G1 Gaming and I've noticed significant FPS drops when playing at very high settings in GTAV.
Additionally, I have a 500W power supply unit.
Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.
EDIT; When running HeavyLoad it shows "Utilization 100%" but the speed stays below 3.57GHz. What went wrong?
I also use an Arctic Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 CPU cooler and keep temperatures under 70 or 80 degrees during load.
On my Asus motherboard, I use the Asus suit for fast overclocking. This needs a restart and the system handles all settings automatically. Keep in mind, idle speed will differ from load speed.
