For Intel, the Prime95 version 26.6 is suggested and will provide a reasonable estimate of temperatures under heavy load... I plan to try version 26.6 since the newer release I used halted one of the workers before installing avx-3 on BIOS, any suggestions for achieving 5GHz performance? Thanks again.

Some individuals can reach 8600K at 5GHz with just 1.285v, but my setup required 1.378v. I recommend starting at 4.9 to check stability at your current Vcore setting, adjusting upward if needed until stable, then proceed to 5GHz. You should remain within a Vcore range of 1.3 to 1.37 for 5GHz. Your chip may require slight adjustments—some run well at 1.3–1.37, while others need more. Consider using LLC mode (set to High) and gradually reduce Vcore in small steps while testing with Prime95 26.6 for reliability.

Some users achieve speeds around 8600K at 5GHz with just 1.285v, but my setup required 1.378v. I recommend starting at 4.9 and checking stability at your current vcore before increasing. Staying on a stable vcore up to 1.4 is safe, though higher temperatures may affect performance. It really depends on the chip you're using. Most systems perform well between 1.3 to 1.37 at 5GHz. You might need to adjust the Vcore slightly and test with Prime95 26.6 for better results.

Wow, that's quite a jump at 1.378 with LLC high enabled doesn't it push it past 1.4vcore? I wouldn't want to compromise my budget MSI PC Pro board if I can't hit 5GHz. Also, on my Corsair Vengeance 3000mhz, XMP is enabled but the CPU registers show it's only at 4400mhz—shouldn't it be around 6000mhz? It would be interesting to see if that doubles.

Thank you all for your comments; I've learned a lot and really appreciate it.

Yep, I believe I missed the silicon lottery and you won! When I try a 5GHz overclock, the vcore needed for a stable hit is 1.378. I use a Turbo LLC at 5GHz but it doesn’t exceed that value. That’s why I prefer a 4.9GHz overclock instead of 5GHz!!!

Regarding RAM, it’s interesting to note I have the same module with XMP profile 1 at 3000MHz. HardwareInfo shows it’s running at the correct speed—2 x 1500MHz—and should operate at no more than 1.35 volts.

I believe I missed the silicon lottery and you won it... When I try a 5GHz overclock, the vcore needs to hit 1.378 for stability. I use a Turbo LLC at 5GHz but it doesn’t exceed that number. That’s why I prefer a 4.9GHz overclock instead of 5GHz!!!

Regarding RAM, I have the same module with XMP profile 1 at 3000MHz. HardwareInfo shows it’s running at 3000MHz and should not exceed 1.35 volts.

I just got it in auto mode because I didn’t want to adjust the RAM settings. I wasn’t sure if running at 4400Mhz was normal, so I enabled XMP. The jump from 4.8 to 5GHz is only a 4% increase. My next issue seems to be with the R9 270X 4GB Sapphire GPU.

For RAM, I have the same module with XMP profile 1 at 3000MHz, and HardwareInfo shows it’s running at 1500MHz each way, which should be stable at no more than 1.35 volts... Does this mean the system automatically picks profile 1, causing it to default to 2144mhz?

Does it automatically set profile 1? That might explain why it starts at 2144mhz.
Hi, no, it doesn’t automatically select XMP profile 1. You need to adjust it in BIOS to Profile 1. I’m hoping for the 1080 Ti if possible—luck was on me when I got a non-Ti model before prices shot up... I think the new 1180 might arrive in July, so waiting could be smart or AMD has something new with the Radeon...

Yep, I think I lost the silcon lottery and you won the silicon lottery...Whenever I go for a 5GHz overclock the vcore requirements for a stable overclock hit 1.378..I do use a Turbo LLC at 5GHz and it does not run over 1.378 then...That is why I stick to a 4.9GHz overclock instead of 5GHz!!!!
As to RAM, funnily enough, I have the same RAM running XMP profile 1 at 3000MHz and when checking in HardwareInfo it is runninbg at the correct speed of 2 x 1500 = 3000MHz and it should be running at no more than 1.35volts...
Does it automatically select profile 1 that might be why it's running at default 2144mhz
Hi, no it does not automatically select XMP profile 1. You have to go into the BIOS and set it to Profile 1. And I agree, get the 1080ti if you can, I was lucky and got a 1080 non Ti at retail before the prices went sky high... I believe the new 1180 will be coming out in July, so it might be worth waiting for that or whatever AMD can do with the new Radeon...
Looking at the 1070ti msi have £350 at the moment can't justify paying 800 pound for a gpu more then I paid for mobo cpu ram and cooler lmao

That is a great price for a 1070ti and they are very good GPU's as good as my MSI 1080 ...Go for it...
