I'm considering purchasing a notebook for college and have limited my options to a Samsung and a Dell model, both around the same price. The Samsung features an i7 processor, while the Dell uses an i5. My dad is quite doubtful about the choice, as he believes Dell is the top brand and their products are dependable. He also mentions the extended warranty option for Dell, which the Samsung lacks. Given the significant differences, should I still choose the more reliable option?

I'm looking for the Samsung model, since the older system will be discontinued soon. Dell's laptops, unless you're opting for high-end models from them, tend to have very poor build quality. This reminds me of how to interpret links to the laptops we've considered. Sometimes SKUs can vary in trim or material. One device might not support future upgrades... assuming. In reality, warranties come with their own conditions that most people overlook.

Hey, thanks for helping out. I'm not from the US, so I tried to find links to American stores for those two laptops but apparently the Samsung one doesn't sell in the US.
Here's the Dell one:
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-i...em...Id=6447114
(although this one is FHD).
And here's the link to the Samsung one from Brazil, just in case it still might help:
Novo Samsung Book | Samsung Brasil
Novo Samsung Book. Ter um faz toda a diferença.
www.samsung.com
From what I've researched, both of them have expandable RAM (up to 16 GB) but I'm not sure the Dell has an empty HDD slot, like the Samsung does.
Like I said, spec wise, the Samsung is much better, I'm just trying to get some info on durability, to make my dad more comfortable with the Samsung one. Let me know if you can tell me anything about the build quality from those links I've given, sorry I couldn't find the US version of the Samsung.
