Hi everyone,
I’m seeking guidance to decide between two laptops for my needs: light video editing (DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro), web development, and everyday tasks.
The options are:
1. Lenovo ThinkPad T490 ($270) – Intel Core i7-8650U, Nvidia GeForce MX250 (10W), 24GB RAM, 512GB SSD
2. HP ProBook 640 G8 ($330) – Intel Core i5-1145G7, Intel Iris Xe Graphics, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, FHD display

My priorities are smooth performance for light editing, reliability, good thermal management, and decent battery life.
From my research so far, the i5-1145G7 in the ProBook seems likely to outperform the i5-8265U in the T490, especially on the GPU side.
I’m curious which one would be better suited for my current requirements.
Appreciate any advice you might have.

I would choose the HP laptop mentioned above. I wouldn't put money into the 8th Gen Mobile Intel platform by 2025.

Consenting, among these options, the HP stands out as the superior choice.
