I discovered the nature of the virus I had, and I'm currently away from my computer for two more days. I'm anxious about the possibility of being reported. My credit card details and Steam account are stored on my PC. After turning it off and on again, no suspicious activity was detected. Windows 10 seems to be resistant to RATs—please let me know if you need further assistance.

I’ll shake your hand for that since why would you share your credit card details on a computer? No worries, just someone who doesn’t get it. Have you completed the full antivirus scan yet? If not, you can try these easy steps to check for viruses on your PC.

*** Run this without any programs open, including browser, Steam, or music. *****
1) Malwarebytes Anti Malware – perform threat scan
2) AdwCleaner
3) Kaspersky TDSSKiller
4) ESET Online Scanner
5) Emsisoft Emergency Kit
6) Norton Power Eraser

Turn it off temporarily until you're ready to revisit it. What came up? And which tool helped you take it away?

Anyone can assist by providing details. The detected virus name is unknown at this time. Did your antivirus remove it? Have you performed a complete scan and a Malwarebytes check? Were there any issues in safe mode? Is the device linked to other devices like cloud or shared groups? Have others experienced the same issue?

The file was named inject.exe, so I disposed of it in the trash when I returned. Attempting to reinstall MalwareByte failed, and it displays an error message.

Not currently at home—I’ve already done a restore before the virus, should it help now.
