You're facing persistent internet problems at your non-profit treatment center, especially affecting operations due to firewall issues. Despite multiple attempts with Sophos firewalls and technical discussions, the problem remains unresolved. The situation is complicated by your location on a mountain, relying solely on a local internet provider who is also experiencing outages. This leads to significant financial strain and disruptions in client care, including health appointments. You're feeling frustrated and overwhelmed.

It may not be secure, but if your internet connection goes around the firewall, will it remain reliable?

The provider confirms the tech expert's assessment, noting the building jumps at 1 millisecond while provider jumps take 300 to 500 milliseconds. The ping isn't responding quickly enough, leading to disabling the firewall. It's unclear who is more reliable at this stage.

Your connection type is unclear. That could be the problem.

It doesn’t depend on who you trust. As the admin, perform ping and speed checks yourself while connected with and without the firewall active. You’ll also need details like: internet type and rates, router/firewall model, major network gear, cable condition, and connections between devices.
