I'm facing a situation with my HP Z600 workstation. It has an Xeon X5650 CPU, a 650W PSU, and currently runs a GTX 1050 Ti. I’m considering upgrading to a GTX 1080 but the existing PSU lacks an 8-pin connector, so I’d need a 6- or 8-pin adapter. I’m curious about what the impact would be on performance. While it’s definitely a significant bottleneck, if I decide to make the change, I’ll have to replace most components except the GPU, which I don’t have the funds for right now.

PSU is currently the primary consideration. Recent titles (besides rare exceptions like Anno 1800) tend to rely heavily on graphics cards. Unless your system has 8+ GB of RAM and an SSD, it should work well at the moment.
